Surgical Expertise

Most people who have IBD can successfully manage their symptoms with medical therapies. We refer people who do require surgical treatment to our internationally recognized surgery team. Our surgeons use the most innovative procedures to treat IBD, including colorectal resection, small bowel resection, and bowel-sparing techniques. They are renowned for their skill and expertise in pelvic pouch reconstructive procedures and J-pouch redo procedures, which may be recommended to repair complications from previous surgery.

For people who require an ostomy, our expert nurses provide specialized care before, during, and after ostomy surgery. This includes helping you learn how to care for and manage a stoma, an opening in the abdomen that allows waste to exit into an ostomy bag.
