Adult Inpatient Rehabilitation Services

If you have experienced a severe or life-threatening illness or injury, you may need intensive, hospital-based therapy before you are ready to return home. ºÙºÙÊÓƵ provides inpatient rehabilitation services at three locations.

Our inpatient rehabilitation programs at Tisch Hospital and ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Orthopedic Hospital are accredited as inpatient rehabilitation centers by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Our inpatient rehabilitation program at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Hospital—Brooklyn is accredited by The Joint Commission for stroke rehabilitation.

Our experts from Rusk Rehabilitation, who are members of your medical team, provide inpatient rehabilitation for people recovering from transplant, limb loss, stroke, severe traumatic brain injury, and other physically and neurologically debilitating conditions. Patients must be medically able to participate in intensive and individualized daily therapy before starting a rehabilitation program.

People who are unable to tolerate intensive daily therapy may be referred to a skilled nursing facility, also known as a subacute rehabilitation center, within our network of providers. Your care team determines what level of rehabilitation is best suited to you based on your diagnosis and individual goals.

Admission to inpatient rehabilitation can be directly from the hospital or from home. Your doctor, social worker, or care manager can discuss preparing for inpatient rehabilitation care.
