Specialized nursing care, social work support, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech–language pathology are an integral part of your care. We collaborate with your primary care doctor and other healthcare providers to keep them informed and updated on your diagnosis and treatment.

In addition, we have received national recognition for our treatment of people who have stroke, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis.

Neurologic Conditions We Treat

Our doctors provide treatment for the entire spectrum of neurologic conditions. Our team includes general neurologists and neurologists who have advanced subspecialty training and expertise in treating the following conditions.

Stroke Treatment

We are a Joint Commission–designated Comprehensive Stroke Center. Our neurologists provide comprehensive evaluation, management, and treatment of stroke, transient ischemic attack, carotid artery disease, intracerebral aneurysm, and other cerebral vascular diseases.

Epilepsy Treatment

We are accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers as a Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. Our epileptologists offer evaluation, investigation, and treatment for adults who have epilepsy. To provide accurate diagnosis and therapeutic intervention, we use neuropsychological evaluation, electroencephalography (EEG), and video EEG. Video EEG is provided in our epilepsy monitoring unit at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Hospital—Long Island, where our nurses and doctors provide 24-hour assessment of brain activity to manage medications and identify what part of the brain is affected by seizure activity.

Multiple Sclerosis Treatment

We are designated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as an MS Comprehensive Care Center. We offer the full range of diagnostic testing and the latest treatments to reduce the frequency and severity of multiple sclerosis (MS) flare-ups, reduce the number of brain lesions, and slow disability progression. We also treat symptoms that accompany MS, including spasticity, pain, bladder issues, fatigue, and weakness. Physical therapy, psychological support, and education for patients and their caregivers are also important elements of the treatment plan. Infusion treatments are provided at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Hospital—Long Island, and we also provide maintenance and supervision of intrathecal baclofen pumps used to treat spasticity.

Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury Treatment

Our subspecialty-trained neurologists work closely with a multispecialty team of emergency department physicians, physiatrists, neurosurgeons, and orthopedic surgeons to provide evaluation, management, and treatment of concussion and brain injury in adolescents and adults.

Headache and Migraine Treatment

Our neurologists are trained in evaluation, management and treatment of headache syndrome and migraine. We use the latest imaging techniques and therapeutic interventions including monoclonal antibodies and botulinum toxin, which is commonly known as Botox®.

Memory Disorder Treatment

Our neurologists work with gerontologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers to address all aspects of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia and memory disorders, providing accurate diagnosis, treatment, and caregiver support.

Movement Disorders Treatment

Our neurologists collaborate with neuropsychologists, neurophysiologists, neurosurgeons, and neuroradiologists who are committed to providing relief and improving quality of life for people with movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. We use a variety of treatments and therapy, including botulinum toxin injections and deep brain stimulation, to help people live as independently as possible. We also provide support from experts in clinical nursing, nutrition, social work, and physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

Neuromuscular Disorder Treatment

We provide specialized care for people who have neuromuscular disorders, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, peripheral neuropathies, myasthenia gravis, and primary muscle disease such as polymyositis and muscular dystrophy.
