Embryo, Egg & Sperm Storage Fees

When eggs or embryos are frozen as part of fertility treatment at the ٺƵ Fertility Center, billing for cryostorage is also included. After initial cryostorage, there is an annual fee for the storage of eggs and embryos.

Sperm may also be frozen and stored at the Fertility Center. However, storage of cryopreserved sperm is billed every six months. Sperm storage is most often a short-term need during in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, while eggs and embryos are often stored long term for fertility preservation.

The charges for the storage of cryopreserved tissue—eggs, sperm, and/or embryos—must be paid to Prelude Cryopreservation, the ٺƵ Fertility Center cryostorage billing partner, on an annual basis. Prolonged nonpayment of storage fees may result in the gametes and/or embryos being designated as abandoned and discarded for nonpayment. Prelude Cryopreservation can be reached at 888-216-6538 or CryoServices@PreludeFertility.com. ٺƵ Fertility Center billing can be reached at 212-263-8647.

It is very important that you keep a current contact address and telephone number on file with the ٺƵ Fertility Center and Prelude Cryopreservation in the event you need to be contacted regarding stored gametes and/or embryos. Patients wishing to discontinue storage should contact Prelude Cryopreservation to request a release form for the disposal of cryopreserved materials. Patients will continue to be charged storage fees until our office receives a completed release form.
