I completed my residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases—now �ٺ���Ƶ Orthopedic Hospital—and trained in the subspecialty of orthopedic trauma and hip and pelvis reconstruction at the Harvard Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship. After my training, I returned to New York and established �ٺ���Ƶ’s Hip Center.

I focus on surgically treating young adults who have hip pain and adults who have hip arthritis, femoral-acetabular impingement, hip dysplasia, hip socket—or acetabular—fractures, pelvis fractures, hip fracture non-unions, and avascular necrosis of the hip.

One of the procedures that I perform is the anterior approach total hip replacement using a specialized surgical table. I was the first surgeon in New York City to use this technique, and I have successfully performed more than 2,000 of these procedures since. This surgery is minimally invasive, helping to restore a person’s normal hip function as quickly as possible.

Traditional hip replacement surgery would often require people to spend two to three days recovering in the hospital, sometimes needing further rehabilitation after being discharged. Same day outpatient procedures for anterior approach total hip replacement, which use innovative tissue-sparing and pain management techniques, allow patients to be discharged the same day of surgery and recover comfortably and swiftly in their own homes. About 40 percent of my patients receiving hip replacements are now able to leave the hospital on the same day as the operation.

My practice is also heavily focused on hip preservation techniques. We identify people who have conditions that may lead to arthritis, such as hip impingement, hip dysplasia, and avascular necrosis of the hip. They are candidates for hip preserving procedures that aim to prevent or delay the onset of arthritis and potentially avoid the need for total hip replacement altogether.

I believe that the people I treat deserve individualized attention to achieve the best results. My goal is to help patients achieve their maximum level of function in the most comfortable way possible.
