About Me
As an ºÙºÙÊÓƵ gynecologic surgeon, I specialize in minimally invasive (vaginal and laparoscopic) surgery to treat patients experiencing heavy bleeding from uterine fibroids or adenomyosis (endometriosis of the uterus), an enlarged uterus from fibroids, painful periods, pelvic organ prolapse, or urinary incontinence. I also perform open surgery to treat very large symptomatic fibroids.
I pursued a career in medicine to promote social justice through healthcare as a human right and to help those in need. I was drawn to the field of obstetrics and gynecology because of my passion for providing compassionate, evidence-based care for women.
In addition to caring for patients, I am dedicated to teaching minimally invasive gynecologic surgical techniques to future women’s healthcare providers. I have had the opportunity to care for patients for more than 25 years and to become a surgical and educational leader nationally.
I have also been involved in national work regarding treatment decision-making for symptomatic fibroids. As an educator and healthcare provider, I strive for excellence in clinical care that is evidence based and patient centered.
My philosophy is to help patients select the best treatment option for them, starting with the lowest-risk, least-aggressive approach that effectively relieves symptoms.
