Abnormal Pap Test Results

The Pap test is a cervical cancer screening test that can detect the presence of irregular cells on a woman’s cervix, the passageway from the vagina to the uterus. ºÙºÙÊÓƵ gynecologists are experts in assessing abnormal Pap test results and determining if further testing or treatment is necessary.

Our doctors use tests and procedures to identify causes of abnormal cervical cells, such as human papillomavirus (HPV), a precancerous condition called cervical dysplasia, and cervical cancer. Most women who have abnormal Pap test results do not have cervical cancer.

Treatment for Abnormal Pap Test Results

Our gynecologists may recommend additional Pap tests, an HPV test, or procedures to determine the cause of irregular cervical cells. Sometimes, these procedures are also used to manage the conditions that have caused these abnormal cells.
