Our Approach to Treating

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

At ٺƵ, doctors who specialize in treating autoimmune diseases—conditions in which the immune system mistakenly attacks parts of the body—are experts at diagnosing systemic lupus erythematosus, commonly known as lupus, which mostly affects women of childbearing age. This complex condition causes inflammation and tissue damage throughout the body, affecting the blood, blood vessels, joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, skin, or nervous system. The inflammation can lead to a variety of mild to severe symptoms, including fatigue, painful and swollen joints, and skin rashes.

Our doctors have helped thousands of people to manage the symptoms of lupus. ٺƵ experts are part of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention initiative to better understand the impact of systemic lupus erythematosus, and our doctors offer access to clinical trials for new therapies at the Lupus Center.

Doctors at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at ٺƵ also diagnose and manage lupus in children.
