Our Approach to Treating

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration is a common eye condition in which the macula, which is the part of the eye that makes central vision clear, deteriorates. Over time, people may lose the ability to see objects directly in front of them, but they do not become completely blind. The condition primarily affects people age 60 and older, and is also called age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Although there is no cure for macular degeneration, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ eye specialists are committed to preserving your eyesight. Our staff, which includes some of the top eye specialists in the United States, are experienced in diagnosing and treating people with macular degeneration.

Treatment for Macular Degeneration

Treatment focuses on slowing the progression of the disease and, sometimes, on restoring vision that may have been compromised. Depending on the type of macular degeneration, our doctors may recommend lifestyle changes, nutritional supplementation, injectable medications, or rarely, photodynamic therapy.
