At the Emergency Department at ٺƵ Hospital—Long Island, we provide advanced medical care for people experiencing serious illness and injury, including heart attack, stroke, and infections that require immediate treatment.
Each year, we provide care for more than 87,000 people. Our doctors are board-certified in emergency medicine and supported by experienced physician assistants and nurse practitioners. In our main emergency department, we provide the full scope of general patient care as well as advanced treatments in our critical care and resuscitation unit.

For people with less serious illness or injuries, we have a dedicated fast-track area where they can receive examinations, X-rays and other imaging tests, and treatment for a variety of common conditions and injuries, including fractures and lacerations.
In our pediatric emergency department, board-certified pediatric emergency doctors are available around the clock and provide care for more than 18,000 children each year.
In addition, we are an American College of Surgeons–verified Level 1 Trauma Center with full adult and pediatric capabilities. Our surgeons are board-certified in trauma and critical care surgery. We treat injuries ranging from moderate to life threatening, including falls, head injuries, fractures, and trauma resulting from motor vehicle accidents. Our 6-bed trauma unit is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by a trauma surgeon and a dedicated team.
Our Comprehensive Stroke Center provides rapid diagnosis and superior treatment for people who have experienced a stroke. Our neurologists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, and certified stroke nurses are available around the clock to provide advanced stroke care. Rehabilitation doctors evaluate patients within the first 24 hours of their arrival for supportive care, including physical therapy, psychological counseling, and speech therapy.
Inpatient care is provided at ٺƵ Hospital—Long Island, where our doctors are experienced in nearly every specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery.
ٺƵ is a weapon-free zone. A weapon is any item capable of causing injury or harm, and includes firearms, knives, and any item that is illegal to own or use under the law. Licensed gun carriers and others may not enter with a gun unless they are law enforcement on active duty.
