About Me
I was inspired to become a doctor by my great-aunt. During the 1930s she left her hometown to attend medical school and became a doctor and an assistant professor at the medical school that I would later attend. It was rare for a woman to become a doctor back then, and her bravery led me to follow in her footsteps.
As a cardiologist at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ, I specialize in cardiac imaging for percutaneous interventions, which are minimally-invasive catheter-based treatments. With cardiac imaging, I can diagnose conditions and provide the necessary imaging to guide a procedure. I collaborate with interventional cardiologists at the Heart Valve Center and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory to treat people who have structural disease, such as aortic stenosis and mitral valve regurgitation. I also work with electrophysiologists at the Heart Rhythm Center.
I’m proud to work at an institution that values teamwork. Nothing can be achieved without a wide variety of specialists, including nurses, technicians, and doctors. In 2016, we were the first team to implant a prosthetic mitral valve through the use of a catheter, which is a noninvasive procedure that avoids the need for open surgery.
Our team is always seeking to advance technologies and procedures to produce the best outcomes for our patients. We’re active in clinical trials to develop catheter treatments for heart abnormalities, including aortic and mitral valve repair.
Every day I come to work excited to be surrounded by people who are the best at what they do and passionate about patient care.

Research Summary
Dr. Saric has advanced the technique of 3D transesophageal echocardiography, described the“tilt-up-then-left†or TUPLE maneuver, which improves the diagnosis of atrial septal defects (ASDs), ascertains the important anatomic relationships of ASDs to surrounding structures, and facilitates communication between echocardiographers and interventional cardiologists or cardiac surgeons performing ASD closures. The maneuver also helps guide the transseptal puncture during percutaneous procedures that require access to the left heart.
His research lead to numerous articles and book chapters in the field of echocardiography. The books he contributed to include Dynamic Echocardiography: A Case-Based Approach, Textbook of Real-Time Three-Dimensional Echocardiography, Comprehensive Atlas of 3D Echocardiography, Comprehensive Textbook of Echocardiography, Clinical Echocardiography Review: A Self-Assessment Tool, Cardiology Board Review, The CCU Survival Guide, Echocardiography in Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention of Acute Coronary Syndrome, and Chaser Pathway for the Management of Pericardial Disease.
He has also created the web site which provides tools for calculating a variety of clinically useful echocardiographic parameters.
