As we enter 2023, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Health remains steadfast in its commitment to providing outstanding care in all of the communities we serve, offering the best outcomes to our patients.
ºÙºÙÊÓƵ’s total community benefit contribution was $1.3 billion in 2021, equating to more than 20 percent of the health system’s total expenditures. This figure covers a wide array of support services, ranging from community health improvement programs, health profession education programs, and unreimbursed costs of care for Medicaid and Medicare patients. This ensures our patients do not have to delay or forgo critical treatments if they cannot cover the cost.
In 2021, nearly two-thirds of our inpatients were enrolled in a government-sponsored insurance plan. ºÙºÙÊÓƵ has one of the highest Medicaid patient volumes in New York City, representing 25 percent of patients who receive our services. Another 41 percent of our patients are Medicare recipients.
ºÙºÙÊÓƵ participates in many health plan networks with a variety of doctors and hospitals.
Anyone without health insurance can call us at 212-263-1481 to get information about an out-of-pocket cost estimate, or to learn more about our Financial Assistance Policy and their eligibility for subsidized health insurance through programs such as Medicaid.
In the last fiscal year, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ provided more than $56 million in charity care to our patients, recognizing that there are times when patients in need of care will have difficulty paying for the services we provide.
Our commitment to offering this support extends throughout our system, which includes ºÙºÙÊÓƵ’s Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion, Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Orthopedic Hospital, Rusk Rehabilitation, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Hospital—Brooklyn, and ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Hospital—Long Island.
Additionally, we are proud of our nearly 75 Family Health Centers at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ, many based in schools, where we provide care and assistance for people regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status.
Founded in 1967, the Family Health Centers at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ has grown to become one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Center networks in the nation. They are home to the largest dental residency program in the country and the largest school health program in New York, handling 600,000 doctor’s visits each year.
