Learn MoreFamily life is typically the center of emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing for children and adults. It is a vital resource for the healthy growth and development of all of its members.
Family therapy addresses the challenges family members face in coping with emotional and behavioral issues in a child, adolescent, or adult. We focus on improving family relationship quality, changing patterns of interaction among family members, and fostering effective communication.
Family therapy has been shown to produce a ripple effect—improvement in any aspect of family functioning can positively affect the family as a whole. Our approach to family therapy takes into account all aspects of family life, from the biological distinctiveness of each family member to the family’s larger cultural context. Our approach is flexible and pragmatic, respectful of the varieties of family compositions, and responsive to the uniqueness of each family’s situation and needs.
Research on relationships shows that couples who are able to engage in constructive dialogue and manage conflict effectively report much higher rates of relationship satisfaction. Healthy relationships are a key component to emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing.
Our approach to couples therapy recognizes that all relationships require engagement with differences and with conflict, and focuses on helping partners develop skills in constructive dialogue. These skills foster relationship resilience and ultimately provide the foundation of trust and security upon which emotional and physical intimacy is generated and sustained.
We work with couples at all stages of the life cycle and are inclusive of LGBTQ+ individuals and relationships.
