Cryptorchidism, or undescended testicles, is a condition in which one or both of a boy’s testicles fail to move down into the scrotum. Typically, complete descent of the testicles into the scrotum occurs either before birth or shortly afterward. If not corrected, the testicles become more vulnerable to changes that may later result in infertility. Having an undescended testicle is a risk factor for testicular cancer.
