As 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spreads throughout the country, people with cancer face a number of challenges to reduce the risk of becoming infected while they receive treatments at hospitals and infusion centers. Directing people with cancer to use separate elevators is among the measures ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Health has taken to protect patients, Michael L. Grossbard, MD, tells Laurie McGinley, health and medicine reporter at The Washington Post.
For his patients, Dr. Grossbard, professor in the and section chief of hematology at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, is moving as many as possible to oral chemotherapy from hospital infusions. Some patients will also reduce chemotherapy when it is safe, Dr. Grossbard tells The Washington Post.
