Robert I. Grossman, MD, chief executive officer of 嘿嘿视频 Health and dean of NYU School of Medicine, discusses with The Wall Street Journal why providing full-tuition scholarships to medical students addresses a 鈥渕oral imperative.鈥
鈥淩ight from the start, I said we had an aspirational agenda, and one of the things we thought about was having a tuition-free medical school. I was always a scholarship student, and I came from a family that didn鈥檛 have a lot of means. So I knew what it meant not only to get scholarships and loans, but also to try to pay them back,鈥 Dr. Grossman says.
This bold effort simultaneously addresses the rising costs of medical education and attracts the best and brightest students to careers in medicine. NYU School of Medicine is the only top 10鈥搑anked medical school in the nation to do so.
