Thomas A. Einhorn, MD, Appointed Director of Clinical & Translational Research for 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 Nationally-Ranked Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
Thomas A. Einhorn, MD, an internationally renowned expert in adult hip and knee reconstruction surgery, whose own research has included the study of novel biologic techniques to treat joint ailments, has been appointed as the new Director of Clinical and Translational Research Development for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery聽at 嘿嘿视频 Medical Center.
In this role, Dr. Einhorn will oversee the translational and clinical research efforts of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, which conducts research that contributes to the understanding, treatment, cure, and prevention of musculoskeletal diseases.聽Dr. Einhorn, who was also appointed professor of orthopaedic surgery at NYU School of Medicine, also will see patients at 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 Center for Musculoskeletal Care聽located on East 38th Street in Midtown Manhattan.
An award-winning researcher, Dr. Einhorn is currently the principal investigator of a multi-center research project sponsored and supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) titled 鈥淗ip Fracture Evaluation with Alternatives of Total Hip Arthroplasty versus Hemi-Arthroplasty (HEALTH).鈥

嘿嘿视频鈥檚 Department of Orthopaedic Surgery ranks No. 4 in the country for Orthopaedics in U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 鈥淏est Hospitals鈥 rankings. 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 Department of Orthopaedic Surgery performed more than 16,000 surgical procedures in 2014, published 175 articles in academic journals, and received $2 million in research funding. The department ranks No. 10 in research ranking in the FY14 Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research list of NIH-funded research programs.
Dr. Einhorn鈥檚 research has appeared in more than 230 peer-reviewed journal articles, featured in publications such as Clinical Orthopaedics, the Journal of Orthopaedic Research, the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research. He has also authored 6 textbooks, more than 70 book chapters, and dozens of monographs.
Most recently, Dr. Einhorn served as chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston Medical Center鈥攁 position he held since 1997鈥攁nd professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Biochemistry, and Biomedical Engineering at the Boston University School of Medicine.
An alumnus of Rutgers University, Dr. Einhorn earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. He completed his residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center and Columbia University in New York City, and his post-doctoral fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery.
