Advances in the treatment of multiple myeloma are enabling people who receive a diagnosis of this disease to live 10 years or longer. About 60 percent of people are stable with good quality of life by the second or third year of remission, says Gareth J. Morgan, MD, PhD, director of multiple myeloma research at 嘿嘿视频 Health鈥檚 Perlmutter Cancer Center. 鈥淚 like to make friends with the patients, bonding with them so they understand that they鈥檝e got somebody that鈥檚 on their side, and then helping them to understand that they can have long periods of good-quality remission,鈥 says Dr. Morgan, professor in the at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. 鈥淎s long as they鈥檙e in a remission, they鈥檝e got another year ahead of them.鈥
