In order to accommodate the growing research program and mission at ٺƵ Health, the NYU Investigational Pharmacy now has a location at ٺƵ Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street and will serve as a satellite of the main NYU Investigational Pharmacy at East 34th Street. The ambulatory care center satellite pharmacy, which became operational in March 2023, is responsible for managing the medication needs of people who are participating in at ٺƵ’s Perlmutter Cancer Center.
The ambulatory care center’s investigational pharmacy satellite supports clinical trial needs for the , , , and Disease Management Groups, as well as for trials in which subjects are being seen at ٺƵ Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street or within a closer proximity to the center’s building as needed and as feasible to ease the logistics of drug transport.
In order to ensure the best possible clinical trial experience for patients at ٺƵ Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street, Perlmutter Cancer Center’s evaluated and tracked patient wait times for that site, which now supports close to 40 percent of the Manhattan campus’ accruals. Wait times at the ambulatory care center were found to be longer than those at Perlmutter Cancer Center, where the main investigational pharmacy has always been located.
“Leadership at Perlmutter Cancer Center, its Clinical Trials Office, and the NYU Investigational Pharmacy collaborated to reduce patient wait times utilizing several short-term and long-term solutions,” said Christy L. Spalink, DNP, administrative director for clinical operations at the Clinical Trials Office. “The opening of the ambulatory care center investigational pharmacy is the culmination of the collaboration and will provide more efficient clinical trial care at that site. It is important to us that our patients are able to spend their time doing what they want to do, and therefore, our goal is efficiency and the safest quality experience.”
The site includes state-of-the-art equipment to support this vital new resource.
The ambulatory care center investigational pharmacy satellite aims to conduct any new and existing clinical research trials where subjects are being seen at ٺƵ Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street, and when feasible, in collaboration with the NYU Investigational Pharmacy at 34th Street to support their existing studies.
