New York City is spending $14 million to expand ParentCorps to more pre-k programs throughout the city over the next three years. A recent study of the program found that by second grade, children who received pre-k as usual were twice as likely to have behavior problems as children who participated in ParentCorps. Dr. Brotman adds, “ParentCorps has an impact on children’s mental health, both in terms of behavior problems and emotional problems, as well as their academic performance.”
