With some 650,000 Americans receiving chemotherapy each year, outpatient oncology clinics, or infusion centers, play an integral role in the treatment of many types of cancer. Last January, as part of a broader investment in cancer care, ºÙºÙÊÓƵ’s Perlmutter Cancer Center opened its second infusion center in Brooklyn—the newest of its six infusion centers in New York City and Long Island. Perlmutter Cancer Center—Midwood and its associated physicians’ office, Perlmutter Cancer Center at ºÙºÙÊÓƵ Hematology Oncology Associates—Brooklyn, are located at 902 Quentin Road in a densely populated neighborhood with large Russian, Jewish, Chinese, and Pakistani communities. Perlmutter Cancer Center also operates an infusion center in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn.
The Midwood facility, one of a growing number of ambulatory care centers created by ºÙºÙÊÓƵ to serve Brooklynites where they live and work, treats some 2,500 patients annually. Its physicians—all specialists in hematology/oncology—work closely with Perlmutter Cancer Center’s subspecialists throughout Brooklyn, supervising chemotherapy for their patients. They oversee treatment for nearly all types of cancer, as well as noncancerous conditions that require infusions.
