You can run in all types of weather, but extreme temperatures may give some runners pause. Heather A. Milton, MS, RCEP, CSCS, exercise physiologist and sports health expert at 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 Sports Performance Center, speaks to GQ about what athletes should be mindful of when exercising in cold weather.
鈥淎dd a few extra minutes to your warm-up routine,鈥 says Milton. 鈥淏e sure to move through a full range of motion for your hips, ankles, knees, and shoulders. Doing so will help prevent muscle pulls that could occur due to cold, tight muscles.鈥
Milton also advises runners to make sure extremities are covered, and make the time for a post-run cool down.
