Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease to Educate Public About Risk Factors for Heart Disease & Latest Research in the Field
Experts at 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease will host the first in a series of lectures about heart health at 嘿嘿视频 Medical Center on April 14.
Heart disease, the leading cause of death among Americans, kills more than 600,000 people each year according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Leading prevention experts at 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 center will explain common risk factors, new research into the development of treatments, and reducing risk through diet and exercise and other lifestyle changes.
鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to begin our lecture series by discussing risk factors that people have control over,鈥 said Edward Fisher, MD, PhD, MPH, professor in the Departments of , , and . 鈥淢any people are at risk for heart disease, including those who have a family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, or another metabolic disorder. However, there are actions people can take to control most of these risk factors, which can help prevent this deadly disease.鈥
Topics discussed at the lecture will include:
- how to work with a prevention cardiologist to manage your personal risk factors
- comprehensive risk assessment and new approaches to prevention
- reducing your risk through diet, exercise, and stress management
- the latest in cardiovascular disease prevention research
Joining Dr. Fisher will be leading cardiologists and prevention researchers Drs. Eugenia Gianos, Dennis Goodman, Arthur Schwartzbard, and Howard Weintraub, who specialize in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
The lecture is free and open to the public on Tuesday, April 14 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at 嘿嘿视频 Medical Center, Alumni Hall B, 550 First Avenue at 31st Street in Manhattan.
