At the 2020 CRI Virtual Immunotherapy Patient Summit, Sylvia Adams, MD, professor in the and director of the Breast Cancer Center, and Victor Ty, BSN, RN, oncology clinical research manager at 嘿嘿视频 Health鈥檚 Perlmutter Cancer Center, discussed a range of issues for people with breast cancer who are considering immunotherapy treatments.
Topics discussed include what people with breast cancer should know about immunotherapy and communicating with their doctors about side effects.
鈥淎ccess to the team is important 24 hours a day. And they know that, and we try to really explain a lot in advance so that they know when they should call and what we can do about it,鈥 Dr. Adams says. 鈥淏ecause if you find side effects early, you can easily treat them by adding some steroids to the treatment regimen or even holding the drug for a week or two or even a month. That usually is not detrimental to the cancer therapy, but it鈥檚 important so that those side effects don鈥檛 become worse.鈥
