At the 2020 CRI Virtual Immunotherapy Patient Summit, Sylvia Adams, MD, professor in the and director of the Breast Cancer Center, and Victor Ty, BSN, RN, oncology clinical research manager at �ٺ���Ƶ Health’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, discussed a range of issues for people with breast cancer who are considering immunotherapy treatments.

Topics discussed include what people with breast cancer should know about immunotherapy and communicating with their doctors about side effects.

“Access to the team is important 24 hours a day. And they know that, and we try to really explain a lot in advance so that they know when they should call and what we can do about it,” Dr. Adams says. “Because if you find side effects early, you can easily treat them by adding some steroids to the treatment regimen or even holding the drug for a week or two or even a month. That usually is not detrimental to the cancer therapy, but it’s important so that those side effects don’t become worse.”
