NYU Langone plans to invest $500 million over the next five years at , formerly known as NYU Lutheran Medical Center, in an expansion of the hospital’s outpatient footprint, says , senior vice president and vice dean for clinical affairs and strategy, chief clinical officer at ٺƵ.
ٺƵ Hospital—Brooklyn will build a $10.5-million, 16-bed observation unit adjacent to the emergency department. This is in conjunction with a $22.5 million relocation of the adult medicine and pediatric cardiology clinics to an outpatient facility.
The expansion plans include the construction of a $48.4-million outpatient expansion of at 5718 Second Avenue, which will provide chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The new facility will be ٺƵ’s fifth regional cancer center, joining other facilities in Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island.
“This is a continuation of our strategy to bring the Perlmutter Cancer Center to the community,” Dr. Brotman tells Crain’s Health Pulse.
