A new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention鈥檚 National Center for Health Statistics found the activities most frequently bringing young people to the emergency department include football, basketball, bicycling, and soccer.
Dennis A. Cardone, DO, co-director of 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 Concussion Center and Center for Young Athletes, tells CNN Health the report鈥檚 findings on which sports cause the most visits and the types of injuries seen are not surprising.
鈥淲e鈥檙e seeing a lot of overuse injuries, and if someone sticks to one sport, they鈥檙e certainly at risk of injury,鈥 says Dr. Cardone, who is also an associate professor in the Departments of and . To prevent these injuries, he encourages participation in a wide variety of activities.
