嘿嘿视频 Introduces New Ronald O. Perelman Center for Emergency Services
NYU Langone Medical Center today announced the opening of the new Ronald O. Perelman Center for Emergency Services聽(Perelman Emergency Center). Located at 570 First Avenue at 33rd street, the 22,000 square-foot facility more than triples the size of the former emergency department (ED), and includes 40 emergency care treatment spaces. In December 2013, 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 longtime trustee Ronald O. Perelman, chairman and chief executive officer of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings Inc., announced a $50 million gift to create the Perelman Emergency Center.
鈥淪ince reopening the hospital, returning critical emergency services to New York City has been our top priority, and we are proud to introduce the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Emergency Services,鈥 said Robert I. Grossman, MD, dean and CEO at 嘿嘿视频. 鈥淭his comfortable, state-of-the-art facility gives patients from the community access to advanced adult and pediatric emergency care.鈥
This event marks the first time 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 ED has been open since the former ED closed for repairs and renovation following damages sustained from Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. The new Perelman Emergency Center maximizes clinical efficiencies and new technologies in emergency medicine. Of note, it includes the KiDS of NYU Pediatric Emergency Care Center, which is a dedicated space designed to meet the specific needs of children and families. Additionally, in response to Hurricane Sandy, 嘿嘿视频 built the Perelman Emergency Center with flood mitigation measures that will help protect the facility against future severe storms.聽
鈥淔or more than a year, New York has been rebuilding and reimagining itself for a new weather reality that affects all of us. I toured this site a couple weeks after the storm, and I believe that the work done on 嘿嘿视频's ED truly demonstrates the resilience and dedication of New Yorkers who come together in times of great crisis and emerge stronger than before,鈥 said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. 鈥淭he storm left the entire region severely battered but still, our spirit was strong, and I am happy to stand here today and celebrate the opening of 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 Perelman Emergency Center.鈥
The new Perelman Emergency Center is part of 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 sweeping campus transformation designed to modernize its infrastructure to more efficiently and effectively meet the demands of today鈥檚 complex health care delivery system. Over 50,000 visits to the Perelman Emergency Center are expected on an annual basis.
鈥淭he Perelman Center for Emergency Services will undoubtedly have a long-lasting impact on the community in extraordinary ways, and I am thrilled to be a part of this new chapter,鈥 said Mr. Perelman, who has been deeply involved with 嘿嘿视频 for over three decades.
Perelman Emergency Center features include:
- Spacious treatment rooms and bedside registration
- State-of-the-art imaging facilities for quick testing and diagnosis
- Efficient intake and discharge processes to make treatment areas available sooner for incoming patients
- New KiDS of NYU Pediatric Emergency Care Center provides a child-focused and family-centered environment
- Expedited service for non-acute (less severe) patient cases
- Direct access to 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 Comprehensive Stroke Care Center, a nationally recognized, multidisciplinary program that provides expert care for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients
鈥淭he physical environment of an emergency department not only affects a patient鈥檚 overall experience, but more importantly, his or her ability to recover. For this reason, our faculty and staff have found innovative ways to make the space both clinically efficient, as well as a place of healing to improve outcomes,鈥 said Lewis Goldfrank, MD, the Herbert W. Adams Professor and chair, Department of Emergency Medicine at 嘿嘿视频. 鈥淚鈥檝e waited a long time for this exciting day, and I am so proud of the hard work and dedication of everyone who made this possible.鈥
鈥淔rom day one, we've prioritized recovery and rebuilding for the New York City neighborhoods impacted by Sandy,鈥 said Mayor Bill de Blasio. 鈥淥pening the Perelman Emergency Center is a great accomplishment for 嘿嘿视频, and an even greater resource and comfort for the citizens of New York. I want to thank 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 faculty and staff for continuing to provide necessary services to New Yorkers and visitors alike, even after the ED was forced to close.鈥
鈥満俸偈悠 is a critical pillar of New York鈥檚 hospital system that must be running on all cylinders for a healthy New York,鈥 said Senator Charles Schumer. 聽鈥淔rom day one of the Hurricane Sandy disaster I worked with the hospital and FEMA to get the support needed for 嘿嘿视频 to come back better and stronger than ever 鈥 and today we have done just that. We are thrilled to restore important emergency care services to the people of New York City.鈥
嘿嘿视频 extends its gratitude to its many dedicated donors who helped to make this transformation possible, including聽 KiDS of 嘿嘿视频, and Trudy Elbaum Gottesman and Robert Gottesman, specifically for their generous gift to pediatric emergency care services.
