Emergency medicine specialist Viraj Lakdawala, MD, a doctor who treats patients using 嘿嘿视频鈥檚 virtual urgent care, recently saw a patient through the online service. Her stomach hurt, and she was nauseous. The pain was constant and concentrated in the lower right side of her abdomen. After the patient described her symptoms, Dr. Lakdawala recommended she go to an emergency room, where she was diagnosed with appendicitis.
Telemedicine is a growing trend, and emergency medicine doctors say that a video visit can offer enough information to make an accurate diagnosis. 鈥淪he looked unwell, and she described a lot of classic symptoms of appendicitis,鈥 Dr. Lakdawala tells CBS New York. 鈥淲hen you look at someone and get the history from the patient, you can actually get 60 to 70 percent of the information you generally need.鈥
