At the Cancer Research Institute’s 2022 Virtual Immunotherapy Patient Summit, , co-leader of the Community Outreach and Engagement Program at �ٺ���Ƶ Health’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, moderated a panel discussion of patient advocates from the African American, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ communities to address the factors that impact access to information about cancer, immunotherapy, and cancer care.

“We know that Black men have the highest incidence and mortality from colorectal cancer, and that’s largely due to lack of timely screening,” says Dr. Ravenell, who is also an associate professor in the Departments of and at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. “There are, unfortunately, so many barriers to men and women of color getting timely screening. I have focused on colorectal cancer, but we know that that is the story with so many other cancers.”
