Depending on your baby鈥檚 condition, you can still partake in skin-to-skin care, which has benefits for your child鈥檚 health and wellness. 鈥淎s soon as we think the patient is stable enough鈥攅ven if they鈥檙e on a ventilator鈥攚e encourage skin-to-skin care, for both Mom and Dad,鈥 Dr. Mally says.
Parents should also make sure to take advantage of hospital resources to learn about their baby鈥檚 condition, receive support with breastfeeding, or access parent support groups.
