Associated Press: Perlmutter Cancer Center Surgical Oncologist Comments on New Breast Cancer Study

Some people with a form of early-stage breast cancer and low levels of a protein that indicates fast-growing cancer might be able to skip radiation treatment following surgery, according to a new study presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Deborah M. Axelrod, MD, director of clinical breast surgery and services at 嘿嘿视频 Health鈥檚 Perlmutter Cancer Center, calls the study a 鈥渇eel-good鈥 message for patients with low-risk tumors. The study will help doctors understand which of their patients 鈥渃an comfortably, with confidence鈥 avoid radiation, Dr. Axelrod, also a professor in the at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, tells the Associated Press.
